Enith Salón: "I tell youngsters to dream big because dreams come true"
The homegrown player, Valencianista, and academy graduate and recent World Cup winner with the senior Spanish National Team, Enith Salón, arrived in Valencia on Tuesday, 22 August, with the gold medal around her neck and a smile that conveys joy, excitement and gratitude. The goalkeeper won the World Cup with the senior Spanish National Team last Sunday in Sydney (Australia) after beating England 1-0.
At Joaquín Sorolla station, Enith, who arrived along with fellow World Cup winner, Alba Redondo, was welcomed by family, friends, fans and, on behalf of Valencia CF Femenino, by the general manager, Carlos Grafiada, the head coach, Jesús Oliva, and the goalkeeping coach, Pablo Moreno.
From the final whistle of the game, emotions have been running high, as Enith, a VCF Academy graduate since the age of 11, said: "I would never have imagined it would happen with girls, but you grow up, you see it happen and it's something indescribable. At the final whistle I felt a lot of emotions, we cried a lot of tears of joy, because it takes a lot of work behind it that you can't see.
We weren't aware of the support from all over Spain until we set foot in Madrid airport. It is a source of great pride that someone from home can achieve something so great. My family is very happy and I tell the youngsters to dream big because sometimes dreams come true.
